About the 9/11 Memorial & Museum:
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum are separate NY Attractions, and both are worth visiting during your stay at our Midtown Manhattan Hotel.
The 9/11 Memorial is made up of 8 acres and features two pools that sit in the footprint of the World Trade Center Towers. Along the edge of the pools are bronze plaques inscribed with the names of the nearly 3,000 people who were killed in the 2001 attacks at the six killed in the 1993 attack. The pools also feature the largest manmade waterfalls in North America.
Guided walking tours, given by men and women who were directly impacted by the events on September 11, 2001 are available, but many choose to spend their time at the Memorial in quiet reflection. Admission to the 9/11 Memorial is free, and the guided walking tours are $15.
Daily – 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The 9/11 Museum features exhibits and artifacts that serve not only to remember those who died, but also to make sure that future generations will never forget what happened. The haunting exhibits include items found at Ground Zero and items donated by rescue workers.
A section of the Vesey Street stairs, knowns as the Survivors’ Stairs, is on display. These stairs were the route that hundreds of people who were in the Towers that day used to escape the burning building.
Visitors can see portraits of those who died and learn a little about each of their stories. Another exhibit provides insight into the Events that led up to the attacks in 2001 and also helps visitors learn about the attack on the Pentagon and Flight 93.
