NYC Events | Columbus Day Parade
The Columbus Day Parade is a popular NYC Event that takes place near our Manhattan Hotel.
New York City loves a parade, and the Columbus Day Parade is one of the biggest such NYC Events of the year.
About the Columbus Day Parade:
Both locals and guests at our NY Hotel enjoy the Columbus Day Parade, which moves down Fifth Avenue from 47th Street to 72nd Street. This NYC Event includes an impressive 35,000 participants, and the streets will be lined with more than 1 million spectators.
While people of all ethnicities enjoy the bands, floats, rescue units and other parade featues, this NYC Event is a source of particular pride for Italian Americans. That’s because the Parade is, in part, a celebration of the many contributions that Italians have made throughout the history of the United States.
This NYC Event has been a Columbus Day staple in the City since 1929. A special mass takes place at St. Patrick’s Cathedral before the parade. The mass begins at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are available to the mass which guarantee entry. At 9 a.m., the doors are open to the public on a space-available basis.
Because the crowd of spectators is so large, it is a good idea to hit the streets early to stake out the best spots. The Columbus Day Parade begins at 11:30 a.m., but consider heading out at about 8:30 or 9 a.m.
Guests who choose DoubleTree Metropolitan Hotel will enjoy our ideal location, impressive amenities, and newly-renovated Guest Rooms. When you choose our NY Hotel, you’ll be near top New York City Dining spots, Shopping, and popular Attractions.
If you’ll be in the City on Columbus Day then consider taking a few hours to watch this fun New York City tradition.
