About Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration:
If you’re planning a New Year’s Eve getaway to New York City then consider attending Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration. This NYC Event is the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in the world, and people from around the globe watch the festivities on television while one million gather in Times Square to attend in person.
This iconic NYC Event has been part of the City’s New Year’s Eve celebrations since 1907. The only time the Event was suspended was for a couple of years during World War II. Other than that, the Times Square New Year’s Eve Celebration has been one that both locals and visitors can count on for an exciting way to ring in the New Year.
Each year, celebrities head to Times Square to perform live at the NYC Event. The lineup for this year’s Event has not yet been announced, but the information will be listed on the Event’s website as soon as it becomes available. People start to gather in Times Square at about 3 p.m. in order to stake out a spot with a good view of the stage. Note that public drinking is not allowed in New York City, so no alcohol is allowed outside of the bars.
At midnight, about a ton of confetti is dropped on revelers as the iconic ball drops to mark the ushering in of 2017. The Ball has gone through many changes over the years. The current Ball weighs an impressive 11,875 pounds and is 12 feet in diameter. The Ball is covered in Waterford Crystal triangles and LED lights can create a color palette that includes 16 million hues.
